Antique primitive blanket trunk dating from the late 1800's, early 2oth c in very good condition. Has it's original red stained finish. Beautiful trunk for winter storage out in the hall, doubles as a bench, storage in the kitchen or the bedroom for root veggies and winter blankets. Also would be a great box for kindling next to the fireplace. Blanket trunks are very popular as coffee tables in cottage style homes.
The inside is very clean, small crack on the bottom of the trunk. Trunk also has many scratches, nicks and the lid does not quite close on one side due to the expansion and shrinkage that wood goes through as it ages, to be expected on an item this old. There is a small piece of wood missing from the lower molding in one spot.
Trunk can be purchased from our Etsy shop online here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/91525922/19th-c-1800s-primitive-red-stained
Trunk measures: 40" long by 16 2/4" wide and 21" high.
Primitive turn of the century butter mold, made of wood and metal. Features 8 blocks mounted individually on long rods set into one block. Mold pattern appears to be initials, difficult to make out, possibly llc or LEC? The middle comes apart from the frame, as seen in the photos.
The second issue is part of the side of the blocks mounted to the board is missing along one side.
The butter mold measures: 11" high by 5 3/4" across and 2 1/2" deep.
Available for purchase from our Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/listing/91514204/large-antique-primitive-butter-cookie
Every so often I enjoy reading through design blogs to keep up on new trends in home decorating and to get my creative juices going. Although there are so many talented bloggers across the internet it turns out that many of them reside right here in the Hudson Valley!
One such blogger is Annie who started http://annieathome.com/, a blog about home decorating, cooking, making hand crafts, parenting and her spiritual journey. Annie is not only a truly amazing decorator and one crafty lady but also a very gifted photographer. A few minutes spent going through her blog to view her home decor and craft projects is worth the visit alone.
So stop on by Annie's blog and spend some time enjoy peeking into the life of a local Hudson Valley resident:
P.S. Tell Annie I sent you:)
If you are a local blogger here in the Hudson Valley and would like to submit your blog for consideration to be featured on Wiltsie Bridge, please send me an e-mail, a brief introduction about yourself and a link to your blog. There are no fees, the only requirements for consideration is that your blog be locally based. Posts about decorating, shopping, creativity, farming, cooking and handcrafts are all along the lines of what I'm looking for.
Look forward to hearing from my fellow Hudson Valley Bloggers!
